Several years ago I was selling soy candles at flea markets and I watched a guy who had a booth behind mine running his business in a way that taught me a few thing. He set up his booth late, he paid someone to set it up, and he left early. How was he able to do that? Profit Margin. I was paying $2.50 for an 8oz. jelly jar candle. He was paying $3-$5 for watches. I was selling my soy candles for $5. He was selling his watches 1 for $15 or 2 for $25. The key was his profit margin. He was making more money. He was selling a product with a high value.

This event taught me the value of profit margins and value. When you have a small profit margin, you've got to focus on quantity. So selling 6000 items that you make a $1 profit on might work well for you, but if you only sold 100, it won't do much for your housepayment. Are you beginning to get the picture here?

Let's consider a high ticket product with a high profit margin. If you sell a $1295 product and make a $1000 profit on it, 6 sales could really help your monthly budget. It may even allow you and your spouse to quit your jobs.

When choosing a homebased business it's important to consider the profit margins on the products you sell. I recommend a high ticket, high margin product or service so you can quickly reach your income goals and put you and your family in the lifestyle you're looking for.

When your looking at products. Make sure it's something you're passionate about. Don't become a dog groomer just because you hear owning a dog grooming business has high profit margins. You want to love dogs and be passionate about the care of dogs and their owners.
