Starting a Home Based Business

When first starting out in search of a home based business, you need to determine whether you will start on a part time or full time basis. Hint, if you are new to starting a home based business and have no previous experience, then part time is what I would suggest. You don't want to start a home business and try and earn a full time residual income overnight. It simply doesn't work that way and you will be too stressed and eventually will give up too quickly. If you are in need of a paycheck, my suggestion is first find a job, so that you can support and invest some time into your part time business. Part of the problem in people wanting to earn a residual income, they need money now. If that's the case for you, wait till you get some control over a regular paycheck. Everyone should look at a home business as a long term investment to generate a positive cash flow.

During your research phase of looking for a home based business, it's always prudent and wise to do your due diligence in evaluating the company, management, compensation plan, products/services, and team support. Can you call the company directly and speak to a live person that will answer all of your questions or are they available only by email? How long has the company been in business or are they a start up company? These are important questions that you need to know and really understand for your long term success. I stay away from start up companies personally as there's just too much risk of a company not succeeding. I look for companies that have been around for a few years and really check them out by calling them, talking to other people in network marketing and seeking out someone with experience that has been in the trenches. One of the easiest ways to check out any company is on Google.

Perhaps the most important element is do you have access to a coach that will guide you step by step through the process of building your home business and developing a residual income. This is important and should be a priority when evaluating any home based business because a good coach will save you valuable time and money to pass along their wisdom, experiences on what works in developing a residual income and what doesn't. Additionally, when looking at the products and/or services of the company, ask yourself if it makes sense to simply be a customer. In other words, would you and other's buy those types of products or services from that company without a compensation plan. If you don't see value in the product or service and can honestly answer no, then you need to keep looking at other companies. There are thousands of companies out there and many have really good products and services.

The next item that you need to establish is how will you be developing your home based business to earn a residual income. This is important and can be a very expensive lesson to learn up front because of the associated costs can escalate to a degree that you won't be able to support your home business. I have been involved in the home based business profession for 10 years and have seen dozens of tools, systems etc out there. Many are just junk and not worth your time or money. That's why a good coach with some experience in this business can save you a lot of time, energy and money. After looking around the internet for many years, I found one of the most powerful and complete systems called Veretekk to build my on line portion of my home business. I thoroughly checked this company out over several months, including accessing there live trainers on a weekly basis without paying a dime. That was the most important part for me, being able to actually see and hear live trainers teaching me every aspect of how to build a home based business on the internet professionally and ethically. Another important consideration in starting any home based business, is what will your budget be? This is equally important and again, if you need a paycheck now, then I would suggest you find a job first and establish a regular paycheck prior to attempting to build a residual income. You need to establish a budget at the outset of how much can you afford to invest on a monthly basis over a period of time. This is one of main reasons people drop out or quit in building a business from home, they don't have a budget that they can utilize to keep going till they see some positive cash flow. By the way, you should never have to invest large sums of money into any home based business to get started and there should always be a full money back guarantee. There are some programs out there that do require $1000 to 5000 or more, but for the average person this is not an option. I believe any home business in the range of $250 to $500 is reasonable depending on whether or not you have done your research on the company. Some people won't invest any money into starting a home business. Those are typically the type of people to stay away from as they want something for nothing. There are no companies out there that you don't have to invest any money in that will be around for the long term. It's a simple case of economics and if the company is not generating any positive cash flow, then how can they possibly survive. Don't be a victim and get scammed into these types of programs. The exception is affiliate programs that don't usually require an investment, but they still need people to buy their products and or services to stay in business.

Anytime you start a home based business to earn a residual income, it requires that you can and are willing to invest time into your home business. Start with identifying how many hours per week you will devote to building a residual income. Treat your business as a business. If you treat it like a hobby, then it will always be a hobby. You need to be clear that developing a residual income in a home based business will take time. Usually I suggest to people to look at a 3 to 5 year plan if they are serious about starting a home based business and want to earn a passive residual income. If someone tells you they will give it a try, then you need to ask them some serious questions about whether they are committed to starting a home business. Typically people that say they will give it a try, usually means they are not really serious and will just end up quitting because they don't understand up front that it will take many hours over an extended period of time to earn a residual income. Don't believe anyone that tells you developing a home based business is easy because it's not. Any real business should be treated like a real business and you need to think in those terms. Successful people who have developed a serious residual income over the years understand this concept and invested many hours to have success.
