How to Easily Create a Favicon Or Favorites Icon For Your Home Based Business Website

A favicon is a tiny image which appears in your browsers next to the URL. Most popular and professional websites will have one, Yahoo.com has a bold red Y with the exclamation point next to it, just to show a quick example. This article will explain the simple step-by-step process to create a favicon for your website.

First you'll need to choose one of your images to use, it's best to use something simple and highly contrasting, like one or two colors on a white background. If you're using your company's existing logo, it will need to be cropped first so that the width and height are equal. The favicon will need to be 16 x 16 pixels in size, so it's easiest to first create it in a small size like 60 x 60 or 100 x 100 and then resize it to the necessary 16 x1 6 pixel size.

If you have trouble or don't know how to edit or resize your image to the favicon size. Just Google favicon generator or go to favicongenerator.com. Use the browse function on the page, find your image that you're going to use and then press the generate favicon button and it will be instantly generated for you and the extension is even changed to .ICO which you would need to do if you are creating your own manually.

Next double check that your new icon is named favicon.ico. Then upload it to your websites root directory. And then copy the following code and paste it into the head section of your webpages:

<link href="favicon.ico" rel="shortcut icon"/>

Now you can go to your webpage and test it out, you may need to refresh the page to view your new favicon.

Is your website looking alittle bare? It's okay, you're about to learn 3 of the fastest ways I know to get free content for your home business website.

1. Articles!

This is actually the fastest of the three, there are many authors online who will let you use their articles for free on your website.

Here are the best places to look:

2. Expert Interviews

You name the topic, there are probably 100's of experts on it especially online. Many of these folks would agree to a short interview via e-mail.

Just send them a polite message asking them for a fast interview and you'll find many will accept your request and let you use it on your site.

3. Quality Ebooks

There are many thousands of free ebooks online for the taking that you can use on your website instantly.

Just pick a few good ones and throw them up on your site for fast content :) While you're at it you can e-mail the authors for an interview and kill two birds with one stone.
